1932 - Establishment of school. : historyThe Brothers of St. Gabriel came to Chiang Mai and established Montfort Primary School along Charoen Prathet Road on a 5 acre plot of land provided by Bishop Peross from Luang Anusarn Suntorn who gave his financial support without interest. The land was located along the Ping River approximately 200 metres from the Sacred Heart Church. Montfort School officially opened its first academic year on 16 March, 1932. Fr. Reunemenier was the Manager, Brother Simon the first Director, Brother Ambrosio the vice-Director and Brother Louis was responsible for the new constructions.

1933 - Transfer of premises. history On 9 January , 1933 the school moved its students to a new 46 m long, 2-storey building. There was already a football field in front of the Directors building, a St. Louis statue. The number of students at this time totaled 116. In 1935 Bro. Clement made a proposal to the Education Ministry that the status of the school be approved. Due to the war, the matter was suspended till 1946 when Bro. Seraphin, the Director that year, re-submitted the proposal which was finally approved on 21 April ,1947.

1949 Secondary Section Opened. This academic year marked the opening of Montfort College Secondary Section

1953 - Additional building.history The school built another 2-storey building with 8 classrooms. The basement was used to park student bicycles. The building was named "Mary".

1957 - New construction. A 3-storey building was constructed increasing the number of classrooms and giving teachers an additional room and a new meeting room on its 3rd floor. The building was named 'Montfort'.

1959 - Extension of land. The school bought over 400 square meters of land.

1963 - Campus extension. The school acquired an additional 1.6 acres of land.

1970 - Transfer of Primary Section. history The Primary Section was transferred to a new site located on 3.6 acres of land in Changklan Road in a 4 storey building, housing primary students from levels 1 to 7(at that time).

1973 - Further construction. A 3-storey building was erected to accommodate levels 1 and 2 of the Primary Section. .

1975 - Girls join the school. historyThe school started to admit girls at its Secondary Section from levels 10 to 12.

1979 - New construction. The original building was demolished and a new 4-storey building replaced it. The king named the new building Samakkhirumit (=solidarity).

1984 - Construction of Secondary Section campus. A new set of buildings was erected to house the Secondary Section on a 20.8-acre plot of land located on Mahidon Road in Tambon Tasala. These new buildings were opened in 1985.

1985 - Primary Section transferred. history The Montfort Primary Section was re-transferred to Charoenprathet Road. On 15 September, 1985, former Prime Minister Prem Tinsulananu was the honorable host welcoming the school band after they had been awarded the golden medal for winning the International Band Competition in Kerkrade, Holland.

1986 - Official opening of Secondary campus.On Wednesday 12 February 1986, HRH Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhorn officially opened the Secondary Section of Montfort College.

1987 - Royal Award. The Primary Section of Montfort College received a Royal Award.

1989 - Royal award. historyThe Secondary Section of Montfort College received a Royal Award.

1990 - Science exhibition. On 9 December 1990, the science exhibition of Montfort Secondary Section was granted a visit from HRH Somsawale and HRH Phacharakittiyapa.

1993 - 60th Anniversary. historyOn 5 February 1993, HRH Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhorn officially inaugurated the "Emanuel" building at the Secondary Section on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Montfort's foundation. In the same year, the Municipality of Chiang Mai proclaimed Montfort Secondary Section a "Garden School" in the region for its harmonious environment and gave honorary Royal Recognition for Montfort's distinguished library.

1994 - Royal award. The Montfort Primary Section received for the second time a prominent Royal Award.

1997 - Visit of HRH Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. On 22 December, HRH Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhorn attended a combined musical band performance given by Sacred Heart College, Assumption College Lampang and Montfort College.

1998 - School band performed abroad. The school band was invited to join a parade during the Magic Music Day held in Disneyland, California, USA and promoted Thai culture Thai temple in, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA. The Montfort Band was chosen by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses committee to participate in the 109th Rose Parade held on 1 January in Pasadena, California, USA. The school bought a 4-acre plot of land behind the Primary Section extending to the Ping River bank where the school developed a fitness garden, football and volleyball fields and an orchard. New constructions took place on the site to increase the school's capacity. The school also co-operated in a project organised by the Municipality to preserve the Ping River bank.

1999 - Revision of policy. history The school launched a general review of its policy, methods and goals and the formulation of its new vision MC 2012 by consulting teachers, students, staff and Montfort alumni students through a questionnaire. The Campus Ministry was established to give opportunities for students to experience life in the rural and urban communities, giving value to local culture aimed at improving the awareness of students and teachers of "sufficiency, friendliness and generosity, virtuosity and Universal Human Quality"
